I JUST MET A GIRL NAMED MARIA

I FEEL PRETTY

MARIA SHARAPOVA 2008 AUSTRALIAN OPEN CHAMPION

Born in the heart of Siberia in the aftermath of Chernobyl, a beautiful and courageous Russian young maiden left her humble origins and set sail for Florida, America to take her place in the annals of tennis history, never imagining in her wildest dreams that she would set the world alight at the tender age of seventeen in the lush green surroundings of Wimbledon.

Now, as part athlete, part businesswoman, tennis superstar Maria Sharapova, nicknamed "The Siberian Siren", combines the perfect blend of beauty, elegance, sexiness and skill as she seeks to be an inspiration and role model to millions everywhere with the same passion, spirit and determination that makes her a champion both on and off the court.

The points were long, the games longer. The fourth-round match on Ashe was a lot closer and less conventional than the final score, which finished 6-3, 6-4, after 1 hour, 53 minutes in favor of the Dane with the blond ponytail against the Russian with the blond ponytail.

We know the Russian a lot better, because Maria Sharapova has three ma...

No love lost: Sharapova blanks Capra 6-0, 6-0

By HOWARD FENDRICH (AP) – 1 hour ago

NEW YORK — Maria Sharapova knows the story all too well: An unknown American kid shows up at the U.S. Open, upsets a seeded player, gains some buzz and belief, then gets a shot at Sharapova in the third round.

In 2009, that kid was Melanie Oudin, who beat Sharapova en route to the quarterfinals.

In 2010, that kid was Beatrice Capra and, well, let's just say that Sharapova fared a little better this tim...

Announcement: Maria Sharapova cruises past Iveta Benesova into U.S. Open third round to face Beatrice Capra
Posted: Sexy Siberian @ Sat Sep 04, 2010 11:32 am
The winds were kicking up at Arthur Ashe Stadium Thursday night, the first signs that the city might be in for a pounding courtesy of Hurricane Earl.

But first, Russian Maria Sharapova took care of business, screeching louder than any storm winds and hammering 68th-ranked Iveta Benesova into submission with a tidy 6-1, 6-2 win to advance to the third round.

Next up for the 2006 Open champ? American Beatrice Capra, maybe this year's answer to the 2009 Cinderella story, Melanie Oudin. It was...

Shock exit for Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova crashed out of the opening day of a Grand Slam for the first time today, suffering a shock 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 defeat by fellow Russian Maria Kirilenko.

The 14th seed planned to use the tournament as a catwalk for a series of new outfits after clinching a £42million clothing deal with Nike. She got to show only one - a strange dress described locally as "Peasant Chic".

After being beaten by the world No58, Sharapova said: "It's a b...
